Breedekloof Wine Route


The panoramic Breede River Valley is the largest fruit and wine producing valley in the Western Cape and is encompassed by McGregor in the South, Gouda in the West , Montagu in the East and the Tankwa Karoo National Park in the North. The valley derived its name from the Breede River that has its source in the Skurweberg Mountains in the Ceres district and flows through the valley until it meets the Indian ocean at White Sands.

Breedekloof Wine Route lies in the Breede River Valley and forms part of Route 62 which is the longest wine route in the world. Breedekloof wine valley is a stone's throw away from Cape Town and is easily reached within approximately 90 minutes. The N1 is the quickest way via Du Toitskloof Pass. There are 22 different wineries on this route varying from Boutique to Private Cellars. Slanghoek, Goudini, Du Toitskloof Cellars, Jason's Hill Private Cellar, Opstal Cellar, Badsberg and Kirabo are a few of the farms that could be visited that has superb wines with excellent prices!
